Working together based on clear values
Every strong community is based on values that they share and that create unity. This is even more true when it comes to building a community. Against this background, we have formulated clear values for ourselves that guide our actions.
Sincere in style
We are convinced that the best basis for a trusting community is a clear basic attitude. Ours is based on the virtues of our European origins, be it those of ancient Greece, Prussia, the French Revolution or even those of Christianity.
That is why honesty, transparency, integrity and fairness are our top guidelines — vis-à-vis our readers, our partners and each other. We are convinced that these virtues are fundamental to a strong community — and that we therefore live them, in the sense of a strong “we.”
Sophisticated in the matter
Developing something together requires good cooperation. With the Age of Enlightenment, we made rationality and factual orientation the guiding principles of discourse in Europe. Last but not least, they have brought us progress, which is the basis of prosperity and peace.
That is why this is also our standard here: This is a place of factual and high-quality exchange, well-founded arguments, reflection and orientation towards the progress of scientific knowledge. Of course, complex issues often involve different perspectives, which can also trigger opposition or dispute. This should also be part of the whole thing here, but carried out in a sophisticated way: oriented towards the cause and constructively.
Our values
Heartily warm in handling
Good cooperation is also based on an appropriate attitude and a suitable approach: starting from a positive attitude, seeking and seeing the good. For us, this means behavior that is characterized by empathy and understanding towards our interlocutors. Behavior that approaches each other in an exploratory and unbiased manner (like a good anthropologist). Behavior that is resonant and unifying, discursive and networking. And that — last but not least — is likeable, joyful, relaxed and entertaining. In a community, this of course requires the willingness of all sides to behave in this way. It is therefore important to us to build a community of like-minded people who identify with this and enjoy a corresponding community.
Inspiring as a result
Everything here is about creating progress, developing together — and thus: Europe. That is our goal, that is our mission. We are convinced that openness and curiosity are the best prerequisites for this. On this basis, we focus on creativity and constructiveness. We look for commitment, ambition, commitment and courage. And we cultivate learning and the progressive. We are convinced that it is these qualities that lead to inspiration — and thus to the progress we need in and for Europe.
